How to Design an Unforgettable Powder Room

When we were hired to renovate a historically important mansion in Brookline, MA, the powder room was the victim of a 1960s’ renovation where they dropped the ceiling and covered the window with a “mod” curved wall. We wanted to bring the powder room back to the quality of the original late 19^th century house, adding pilasters and mirrors to expand the feeling of the narrow, long space. The vaulted ceiling was inspired by the client’s visit to Alhambra. The mosaic tile installation was challenging, but it makes the tiny space worthy of the house.
